Education/Qualifications

2007-2011 University of Cumbria.
BA (First Class Honours) Contemporary Applied Arts.
1986-1987 Mid-Cheshire College of F.E. Art Foundation course.

Research/Practice Experience

  • Technical knowledge of hand building methodologies, slip decoration using terra sigillatta, hand painting and carbonization through smoke firing.
  • An ability to work within given budgets on commissioned work and to visualize/realize designs from initial brief through to prototypes and final production.
  • Experience working as a creative practitioner within education.
  • Research report writing.

BIOGRAPHY
Joanne Edwards was born in Manchester, in 1967. After working as a graphic designer for a number of years, she chose to return to education in 2007 to study on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Applied Art and Fine Art course at the University of Cumbria. Specialising in sculpture, particularly ceramics, she has been inspired by the versatility of the medium clay and established her practice in Askham, Cumbria.
